Hi Matt,
Your issue about Athena software on a non-Athena machine running AFS
was forwarded to me. I'm sorry it took so long for a response- this is
not something hotline normally deals with. That list is intended primarily
for Athena hardware problem reports.

Unfortunately this is something we can't support. Many aspects of running
Athena applications are tied to Athena-specific features that extend beyond
just having AFS or Kerberos running on the machine, and in some cases we
are limited by license obligations (software licensed only for Athena
machines).
There are two ways you can go- you can Athenize your machine by paying
the Athena software and installation fees, which will give you the
full Athena software suite; you can also license copies of
applications you want for your machine, and install them locally. You
can get Matlab and Maple through Angela Blossom at x8-9519. I'm sorry
that we can't do what you request and hope you are able to get the
software you need through the other avenues I suggested.
