--------

Hello, Peter.

Thanks for reporting the lack of paper on the printer PICUS. Normally,
Athena's Cluster Patrol checks each cluster nightly to fix problems with
printers, workstations, paper, and so forth. Sometimes one of the
less-used clusters may be missed for a night, but only when there is so
much else to do (normally because of emergencies, such as the power
failure that damaged the Student Center cluster yesterday.) However,
unless we're having a problem with our paper supplier, or Cambridge
Power continues being unreliable all weekend, I wouldn't think you'd
have to wait until Tuesday for paper to be re-supplied to the cluster.

I know it can be frustrating when you have your own paper, and the
printer queue is turned off. However, this is done on purpose. Many
people have, in the past, supplied their own paper for the Athena
printers, but have supplied the wrong type. The consequence of this is
that the printer gets seriously damaged. Most printers, and the Athena
ones are no exceptions, are finicky about what kind of paper they'll
use, and prone to indigestion if fed the wrong type.

Fortunately, there are other printers available on campus, so you ARE
able to print your work. At this time of year, the walk isn't even so
bad.

I apologize for the inconvenience.
