Hi,
Earlier this semester you very kindly moved and swapped a couple of Athena
workstations (Athena owned) for me. The SparcClassic (currently called
pali.mit.edu) that was moved to 33-105 is no longer needed by the professor
there, as he has finally received his PC/Linux machine, which, by the way,
he is using the IP address pali.mit.edu on. The Sparc is currently turned
off.
What I would like to propose now, if it would be agreeable to you
(especially since the Classic is rather on the old side) is moving the
machine to 31-015A, so that it may be used by one of our technical
instructors, Donald Weiner (his old PC is dying an ignoble death). We are
about to gut/rehab our entire teaching laboratory, so this would not be a
good time to buy him a new computer. He just needs a simple, but reliable,
computer that will allow him access to the net & email & maybe we can get
him to learn basic emacs as well.
Anyway, let me know if this request is favorable to you.
Thanks,
Phyllis
