Computer start up problems

I was wondering if you could help me with problems, we have a workstation in our labs and I just found out this morning that our computer is frozen, if it is restarted it goes thru the same loop, it apparently dumps a lot of "stuff" and then freezes when instructing the user to restart the computer after dumping is complete. I just installed an external CD ROm yesterday (it is compatible), and I think this problem might be realted to this. If you could help me it would be great, if not, it would be helpful to get a number I could get some advice from, or an email. I can be reached at 253-0738 anytime today or during the weekend. Thanks
