Hi,

I've already contacted Joe personally about this, but I thought you might
want to log it as well.

My recently installed SGI O2, inner-beauty.mit.edu (18.164.0.75), is dead.
Every time I try to boot it, I get "PANIC: KERNEL FAULT" in the status
window.

When the machine was (mostly) working last week, Bob Basch and I tried to
diagnose its problems. It turns out that the hesiod table listed the O2 as
being an Indy, and ls'ing the srvd file showed that inner-beauty was trying
to run Irix 5.3. Whether something changed in the hesiod table over the
weekend, I have no idea, but in any case, inner-beauty completely failed to
boot on Monday morning.

Please add this machine to what I'm sure is a lengthy list of other
machines that need a little help ... and of course, the sooner you can get
to it, the better.

Thanks in advance,

--debby

Humanity has an amazing inability to plan. Not too many
generations ago, when our relatives lived by hunting and
gathering, the inability to plan for the next season meant
death. Planners survived. The clueless died. But today,
Homo Sapiens eats at McDonalds - for the moment, planning
and survival are not strongly linked. --David Isenberg
