Athyra, an O2 in my office E40-339, has wedged hard three times in the
past three days. When I say hard, I mean hard - whatever is on the
screen at the time freezes, it falls off the net, it stops responding
to the keyboard and mouse, and the power button does nothing. No
warning, no syslogs, no Irix crash dump. Using a paper clip to
hard-reboot it works.
I'd appreciate it if you could take a look at the hardware and see
there's any obvious cause. I realize that "it wedges with no warning"
doesn't give you much to work with, but perhaps there's something
wrong with the backplane? (I've already tried reseating the
motherboard and all the other modular components into the backplane.)
Someone else suggested the memory might be the culprit.
(Note: this is the "new" athyra in E40-339, serial no. 08006902e6ba,
MIT tag no. 325209. The previous incarnation of athyra in E40-342,
now known as smoke-screen, did not exhibit this behaviour.)
Thanks.
