I obtained further information concerning this request. The reason the
cut-out cross connection between cold and chilled water is needed is to
prevent contamination. It is required by the City of Cambridge Water
Department. If this work is not done, the City will request that this
work take place. PPL always tries to do this work before it is requested
by the City.
Also there was a water pipe that apparently was leaking heavily in
Laverde's Market. This was patched on a short-term basis. It was thought
that the time requested to repair or replace the pipe would hopefully
not interfere with Laverde's schedule.

Oh one other thing - this work may not take 8 hours--it only may take 4.
But the workmen cannot say it will take 8 hours or less until they
actually start doing the work.
