I don't know that they are really newer versions of the HP4s, but they
will work with Athena, provided they have a JetDirect card (yes, you
will need a JetDirect card)

I belive that in addition to being a printserver, tautog also
functions as a bootp server for scallop. I assume you'd want to do
something similar with the other new printserver.

This is easy to do, once the new printer exists.

This machine will need to be updated to 8.1 before it can become a
printserver. OTOH, it's probably a good idea to get all of your
machines updated to 8.1.
Hey Mike or Dan, have you kept track of things to watch out for while
updating WHOI machines? I suspect this may me the trickiest part of
the whole process of getting a new printer, and hopefully it won't be
too bad.
