It had been up for a few months without any problems (I shut it down
once a couple of months ago).
Tonight I decided it was time to reinstall it with the latest software.
I said "halt," and it did.
But instead of giving me the "click here to restart, or power off" the
monitor went into power-saver mode and the green light on the front of
the machine turned solid amber and stayed that way.
It does not respond to the power button or the reset button.
I power cycled it with the power cord, to no avail. I disconnected the
SCSI chain. No help. I read the manual, which said "re-seat CPU
module. re-seat DIMMS on system board." So I did those things too, but
it didn't help. I also re-seated the video board for good measure.
Maybe I shouldn't have threatened to reinstall it.
