freezing mouse

I'm writing from the Athena cluster in the Dept. of Linguistics and Philosophy
(Bld. E39). The mouse on one of our SUN stations periodically goes into deep
freeze (I'm using that in a non-technical sense)--that is, it will suddenly
refuse to move, leaving whomever is logged in locked on their screen (unless
they are lucky enough to be in their xterm window at the moment). We've
finally written out the reboot instructions and put them next to the machine
so that people don't get stuck (with potentially embarrassing things on the
screen) while waiting for someone to help them find the directions. I don't
think the problem is internal to the mouse (we've tried switching mice around
in the past). I don't know what the problem is. (I'm really quite clueless
w.r.t. computers.) I'm wondering if there is anything you can do to help us?
(We had this problem last year as well, when we were over in Bldg. 20.)

Thanks very much,

Vivian Lin
