Hello.
I recently have frequent timeout problem on lockers hooked up with
a server named cat2.mit.edu.
It does time out as below very oftern in the past month and
it seems to be getting worse.
>CAT1:/mit/arch1/people % attach arch1
>attach: Filesystem "arch1" is already attached (mapping)
>
>CAT1:/mit/arch1/people % ls
>NFS getattr failed for server CAT2.MIT.EDU: error 5 (RPC: Timed out)
>.: Connection timed out
>
>CAT1:/mit/arch1/people % ls
>4.204 lsass
The problem is, you can attach the locker OK, but when you try to
do something (just listing the files or cd'ing), with a pretty
good probability, it times out. Time out does not happen 100%,
but during the daytime, it happesn at a good possibiliby, maybe
50-60% of the time.
My amateur guess is some network problem slowing down the communication
or actual timeout threshold too small.
Timeout is not likely usually in the morning and late night.
Would you be able to investigate ? There might be other servers nearby
which has similar problems.
Thanks. Takehiko
