over the past couple weeks we (hotline) have been receiving
calls in regards to the sparc5's in 54-311 hanging while people
have been log'd in, they would get lost contact mssgs in the
console. there are 2 sgi's in the rm on a seperate net drop
with a dual transciever. The suns are on a quad transciever,
chris p swap'd out the transciever and was still getting the
lost contact mssgs when the system were booting, he then tried
a sun on the sgi dual and still received the lost contact mssgs.
we then tried connecting direct utp cable from the quad to
a sun and still received the lost contact mssgs. when trying
to reinstall software on 2 of the suns the system's would
complain about the router 18.83.0.1 saying unable to contact
then give an err number.

I know this is confusing, basically we tried every possible
network connection on the suns. If you have any questions
just ask.

Thanks Mike/Chris/Ron for your help with this issue. Hopefully
we can get these gremlins track'd down or at least chase them
out of bldg. 54 :)

JJ
