The machine NEXT TO w20-575-22 has apparently crashed. Rebooting
produces the startup messages:

Hostname: 18.187.0.1
...
UNEXPECTED INCONSISTENCY; RUN fsck MANUALLY
...
*** NO ENTRY FOR root IN PASSWORD FILE ***
Entering system maintenace mode
at which point booting stops at the console.
I checked the file /etc/passwd and it is empty (0 bytes).
