Hi, just wanted to let y'all know about the new Macs in
the test cluster. These are 9600/350s, and have Photoshop
and Director (v. 5...version 7 is on order) installed
so far. I'll also be putting Premiere, After Effects,
Illustrator, and SoundEdit on them shortly.
Students in Ed Barrett's course ("Communicating in Cyberspace)
are allowed to come over *during business hours only* to
use the machines. They are supposed to sign up by sending
mail to f_l first, so we know who's been using them.
*They may not stay past 5 PM*, and the machines are set
to turn themselves off at 6 PM daily.
The machines have built-in zip drives, and users should
save to zip disks rather than the hard disks.
Umm, what else...the machine names are (clockwise from
the Mediastation) Ryde, Sandown, and Shanklin. Sandown is
located behind the Quickstation (can we move that?) and is
still awaiting a monitor. All three run MacOS8.
The Mediastation is currently the only machine that can do
video digitizing, but I'm ordering a Media 100 card for one
of the others.
Please let me know if you have any questions about them.
