this sparcstation 4 stopped recognizing keyboard and mouse input, but
failed to throw up that pretty Sun "type 'go' to resume" ok-prompt.
the keyboard was then unplugged and plugged back in, but nothing on
the screen changed and the keyboard was still being ignored. the
machine was then turned off and then on; the monitor has remained
black (but with a green light, not a power-saving orange light) for at
least five minutes.
the user was running maple and a few trinkets like xscreensaver and
xload. when everything froze, the mouse was pointing to an xzewd
window.
