Mail duplicates not purged out

This isn't a hardware problem, (or maybe it is) but I didn't know who else
to talk to. Over the last few months, it seems like the mail servers have
not purged duplicates from mail headers. What I mean by that is that if
I am foo@mit.edu, and on the mailing list bar@mit.edu, then mail sent to
To: foo
Cc: bar
will arrive in my inbox twice. But during the last year and before, the
mail servers seemed to be smart enough so that this didn't happen.
Did something break?
