Hi -
There is an athena workstation mitr-sun located in NW12-106A, a private office,
that is acting up. The problem seems to manifest it self by locking up every so
often and then the machine needs to be rebooted, upon reboot a message
panic: asynchronous memory fault
occurs and the machine will reset and reboot again. Sometimes this message will
continue and other times it will actually boot up. I am sending this email from
this machine now.
When I do a stop-A and perform the test like test memory - everything tests out
allright. I don't know if it is a hardware problem or if it is software. The
problem does not appear to be reproducable. I would appreciate it if someone
could address this problem. The machine is currently used by two PhD students
trying to wrap up theses.
There is typically someone in the office from 1 pm to 9 pm. If not, someone in
the reactor operations office (NW12 is the reactor building) near the front desk
should have a key to access the office. The machine is the first workstation as
you enter the office.
The office location 106A is on the first floor. After entering NW12 and walking
past the reception area take an immediate right. The office is on the right
immediately before the two double doors at the end of the hall.
Thanks
