I formatted the new drive that was put in soup, repartitioned
it, and reloaded all the data that was on the old drive back onto
it. The machine is now up and running with the new drive.
I am not sure of the condition of the other two drives in the
workstation. While booting, the machine logged an error on
drive two that was identical to the errors logged previously on
drive 1; i.e., lost interrupts reported by the controller.
Also, errors on drive 0 were detected during an attempt to write
a crash dump. I expect that the other two drives probably don't
have much useful life left in them. I don't think anything
needs to be done about this now. The diagnostics reported no
problems with any of the drives, and I have no non-reproducible
(or non-backed up) data on the other two drives. If I should
start having more serious problems with the other drives, I will
get back in touch and see about the possibility of having them
replaced as well. I have been plagued with disk problems since
I've been using the machine.
Thanks for your assistance and attention.
