Hi:
We would like to connect a HP Laserjet 6MP (using parallel port) to one of
our Athena workstations, Sun Sparc 5, or Sun Classic, and print in it
remotely using the remainder (local) Athena workstations.
So, here are the questions:
1. Sparc 5 does not have a DB25 port, but it seems to have a kind of
parallel port. Is there any connector "converting" this port to the DB25 one ?
2. SunClassic has a DB25-like port, but is it an IEEE 1284-compliant parallel
port ?
3. We would like to configure such printer as a remote one in our lab. Is
there any conflict with Athena by doing this ?
4. To achieve 3., we need to configure /etc/printcap, start lpd, and use
lpr, lpq, lprm, etc. Is there any conflict with these local programs and the
correspondent ones on Athena ? Or does it not matter ?
5. Would it be possible to print remotely from a networked PC ?
Regards, -- Ramon.
