Between, about 5 and 6 this AM pepe logged a bunch of disk errors.
They seem to mostly be in the swap space from what I could tell. At
some point mwhitson paged me, becausing I was working in 008. For a
while ti wouldn't let us log in remotely. Eventuall it decided that
it would again. After that point it didn't log any more errors.
weird. On the theory that reducing the amount of swap space used
might help, I killed bootp (which had grown to 10M) and let inetd
restart it (it's currently about 300K). I'm hoping that we can ride
out the disk errors until we can get teh services off of the machine.
Note that although the code has not been audited, mwhitson's unified
boot server work has been tested, and could be deployed*
* except that the tehter stuff hasn't been tested. chris I believe
* you're working on this with mike, it'd be nice if this could get
* done RSN, just in case.
f_l: is it at all plausible to get the license servers off of pepe in
the near future? if not we'll probably need to re-install a new disk
in pepe at some point
dcns-cluster: if we need to borrow an SGI disk, do you have a spare?
On the good side, i tlooks like everything is working, however, I
haven't really done any testing. So, we may not have to do any thing
for a while <knock knock>
f_l: it might be clever to make sure the license servers area s up as
they look.
dcns-cluster: please let us know if you have problems installing SGIs
