Lou,

There is a problem with the date of 1/15 PM - 1/16 AM for the
Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Department in Bldg. 38.
They have a lab full of 6.270 students and employees at 8:00 PM untl
midnite every night except for weekends. Ron Roscoe has suggested the
shutdown be from 11:59 PM Friday, Jan. 17 thru the early morning hours
of Saturday, Jan. 18.

Would this be acceptable to you even though it certainly is not what
you had suggested?

Please let me know at your earliest convenience.

Thank you.

The following requested shutdown for Bldg. 38 - South Ofices - Floors
1-6 for anywhere from 1/13 to 1/31 is for your information and review.
As you will see, the date, time is up to you. Physical Plant folks can
come in over the weekend, begin work at 4:00 AM or from 11:00 PM to the
next morning. It is up to you and we would most appreciate your
suggestion.

Please advise and thank you.

Building: 38 - South Offices - Floors 1-6
System: Supply ventilation, cooling and heating

                PM#701939 - Supply Fan/Air Handler 3 A & B
                PM#701994 - Return Fan 3
Date: Between 1/15 and 1/16
Day: Wednesday PM - Thursday AM
Time: Between 8:00 PM - 1/15 and 8:00 AM 1/16
Duration: 4 - 6 hours
Reason: Replace bearings for Return Fan #3
Effect: Loss of supply ventilation, cooling and heating

Please note: Physical Plant needs 5 day's notice
based on scheduled date to set up. Confined space
                entry permit required.

     Hi Andrea,
We have a General Athena cluster located in 38-370. If this
is considered the south side, the cluster is scheduled to be shutdown for
washing/waxing on 1/15/97 at 8:00pm. Cluster is scheduled to re-open on
1/16/97 at 8:00am.
If 38-370 is not on the south side, you have 1410's O.K.
Please let us know one way or the other, because other steps
need to take place regarding the integrity of the systems in the
              38-370 location.
                                    Thanks Much,
                                               --Lou 1/3/97

      Hi Andrea,
As I stated above, this facility will be closing on 1/15/97 at
8:00pm, and re-opening on 1/16/97 at 8:00am for washing and waxing, and
general cluster maint. All that I would have to do is to power down
the computers/workstations at this facility due to the loss of cooling.
As long as the work is completed by 8:00am on 1/16/97, I see no problem.
You now have my o.k. for the above specified date & time.
                              Thanks Much,
                                         --Lou 1/8/97
