Printer "ajax" doesn't know what size paper it is using

The printer ajax is printing wrongly... pages come out of the
printer don't have the text in the center of the page. As a rough
estimate, it looks as if all the text is printing one cm down and
one cm to the right of the poper position for the text.
(In particular, I notice this problem when dvips'ing (single-sided)
a DVI file of mine.)
Can someone re-train ajax about where the margins on the paper are?
