We just received a bunch of new Sun Sparc 4's today in exchange for our
DECstations. Some of these are not working properly and won't permit logins.
These include 'depot' (18.37.0.28) and 'jensen' (18.89.1.241). Included below
is a report from one of our users. I'd appreciate it if someone from Athena
could check the machines out.

Subject: Some new Sun Sparc4s don't work

Hi Tom,

I'm not sure this is your dept. so please forward as necessary...

JENSEN, the Sun in my office, isn't configured right. Just about
every command, including kerberos goodies, leads it to look for
a "ctypes" file in /usr/lib/locale/C which is symlinked to a file
under the /os directory tree, which doesn't exist.

DEPOT, one of the Suns in the backyard, says it "failed to initialize
correctly" when I try to log in.

I have, however, been able to log into two other new Suns, SAARINEN
and PELLI (where I'm writing this here note). I haven't tried the
Indys because they're still bootstrapping from AFS.

Thought someone oughta know!

Cheers,
  John E. <jdevans@mit.edu>
