bad floppy drive

on a sun in the 5th floor student center (w20-575-40.mit.edu), the
floppy drive does not read disks, nor recognize when they are inserted.
the normal eject command does not cause a disk to be ejected-- must use
eject -f fd
my floppy does work on the neighboring machines.
