Matisse (OLC server) will be shut down for an hour or two tonight for
maintenance. The Athena Server Operations group (ops@mit.edu) will
send informational updates via Zephyr instance consult.
SCHEDULE:
Matisse will be down for an hour or more during the time period
midnight--4am on Saturday, October 12 (late tonight).
REASON:
There is insufficient disk space remaining for the OLC
database and archives, and the electrical supply to the
computer (an old "uninterruptible power supply" (UPS)) is
suspected of being too interruptable.
SERVICES:
OLC (OLTA uses a different server, and will be unaffected.)
DISCUSS (only for OLC-related discuss meetings)
IMPACT:
Users and consultants will be unable to ask or review
OLC questions (e.g. `olc ask`), and the OLC message of the day
will not be displayed. The OLC-related discuss archives on
Matisse (`grep -i matisse ~/.meetings`) will be unavailable.
We're sorry about the late notification of this outage. Consultants
were warned of the likelihood in advance, and this weekend is the best
opportunity to fix Matisse that we'll have for several weeks, and
Matisse cannot wait that long.
