Sorry it took us so long to get to this, but we're rather short-handed
these days. In related news Brian is no longer working here.
Anything you would have sent diredtly to Brian, you should send to
ops@mit.edu, instead.

As you may or may not have heard, we think the problem is that it
currently isn't possible to reverse resolve tautog's IP address into
its name. Using nslookup pointed at aqua.whoi.edu:

> 220.16.128.128.in-addr.arpa.
Server: aqua.whoi.edu
Address: 128.128.16.1

*** aqua.whoi.edu can't find 220.16.128.128.in-addr.arpa.: Non-existent host/domain
> 221.16.128.128.in-addr.arpa.
Server: aqua.whoi.edu
Address: 128.128.16.1

221.16.128.128.in-addr.arpa name = squeteague.whoi.edu
128.128.in-addr.arpa nameserver = aqua.whoi.edu
128.128.in-addr.arpa nameserver = red.whoi.edu
128.128.in-addr.arpa nameserver = ns.ucar.edu
aqua.whoi.edu internet address = 128.128.16.1
red.whoi.edu internet address = 128.128.16.2

This is cc'd to postmaster@whoi.edu, since that's who is appearantly
in charge of the whoi namespace. Ibelieve they need to add a PTR
record to allow the reverse resolution of 128.128.16.220 to
tautog.whoi.edu. Unless we hear back from you, I'm going to assume
this issue is closed and your problem solved.
