SGI audio problems

Hi,
on some of the new SGIs in the student center, I hvae been unable to get
any audio output via matlab (it gives an error that the hardware doesn't
suport audio playback), but earlier this week I did no have this problem.
Trying to access the audi control panel gave an error saying that the audio
control couldn't be initialized because no drives were present, or something
to that effect. Earlier this week, I was unable to even select the control
panel (the option was grayed out in the desk menu bar thing).
I tried the first and third SGI closest to the door (west side of the room
I believe). I'm on an older SGI righ tnow, and haven't had any problems here
