This machine is acting strangly in number of ways....
1) Constantly hosed.
It's consistently at about 1.5 delayed processes ave.
This seems to be from this:

2) Repeatedly (once every 10 min) sets the clock back
10 seconds:
13:14 afs: setting clock back 10 seconds (of 36, via 18.183.0.20 in cell athena.mit.edu); clock is still fast.
13:24 afs: setting clock back 10 seconds (of 47, via 18.183.0.20 in cell athena.mit.edu); clock is still fast.

3) su breaks in this interesting way:

I reconfigured so that my prompt doesn't include my uid
but that doesn't seem to have been the problem
