To Whomever Knows About Athena Printers,
I have a printer in E20 which is served by the print server IO.MIT.EDU.
Whenever I print to this printer directly from a networked PC it works
fine. But when I print to it from my VAX (via the Athena IO print server)
it prints the following message in large bold letters:
Error: spooled binary file rejected
I have checked the VAX setup and everything looks fine. The VAX reports
that the file has been sent to the printer without an error. Seeing as my
configuration looks fine and the error is only encountered after the file is
sent, I believe this problem must involve the print server. This printer
was originaly being served by the Arbor-Eater server but was recently moved
to the IO server. I'm sorry I can't tell you when this occured, I only found
out about this change last week when the printer stopper working. I thought
that simply changing where the VAX was spooling it's files to (IO instead of
Arbor-Eater) would correct the problem - but it hasn't completely. Whereas
when the VAX was sending it's output to Arbor-Eater I was receiving a VAX
error. Now that I have it sending it's output to IO I get the error above.
Does anyone know what the error above is and what needs to be done about it?
