Goodmorning,
I have a brief question about accessing one of our private printers
from our new Sparc 5 Athena machine.
We previously owned a Dec 3100 which we set up as a private Athena
machine. We also have a few other non-Athena networked Decs in our
lab. Attached to one of these other Decs (a Dec 5000) we have a
postscript printer. We used to be able to print up documents from our
Athena machine to this printer. When the new Sun machine was
installed, it replaced the old Dec Athena machine. The problem now is
that this new machine cannot print to our printer (printer name =
titanic or uhoh depending on what machine you are sending print job
from). It tells us that titanic is an 'unknown printer'. We can still
send print jobs from our other two Decs to the printer, so I know it is
'out on the net' somewhere, but I don't know how to configure our new
Athena machine to be able to locate it.
Can you help?
You can reach me via email or by calling our lab 3-5900 (room 1-225).
The other gentlemen in the lab are aware of the problem and can be
given any relevant information if I'm not around.
Thank you very much for your help.
Sincerely,
Nicole Suoja
