And that problem is that the network interface has no slidey clip on AUI port.
The thick network cable likes to twist off slightly; this causes the workstation
to fail to activate correctly and thus prevent people from logging in.
I put the cable back on. Perhaps I can take slidey clip from the back of
another machine (like GIS) and install it on the Decstation. Or perhaps a
hotline hardware team member would prefer to supervise that.
In any event, that's what goes wrong and I have for now fixed it.
