Hi,
I reported a problem with logging on to m2-032-13 (I identified the
workstation by the sticker on the box). I am now working on m2-032-14
(it has no sticker on the box but it is between m2-032-13 and
m2-032-15; furthermore, this is what the command 'hostname' returns).
Here is the problem:
Other machines appear to think that I am on m2-032-13!
More specifically, I tried to display an emacs window from
a remote machine (which is at mit) at this workstation and it would
only work when I set the DISPLAY variable on the remote machine to be
m2-032-13. I was also talking to OLC and they thought that I was on
m2-032-13 too.
I also found out that the /etc/hostname.le0 file contains m2-032-13
while the /etc/nodename file contains m2-032-14.
I think I am going to log out of this machine and find another one to
work on.
