Possible SIPB service outages tonight

Power will be off in the W20 machine room for some period of time
tonight, probably starting at 12:00 (we do not currently have a
schedule). All of our services are on uninterruptable power supplies,
but there is a possibility that the power outage may last longer than
the duration of the supplies, or that our Decstations will not recover
properly when power is restored.
Therefore, some or all of the SIPB services may be down for some
period of time tonight, probably between midnight and 1:00. Notable
SIPB services include:
News service on news.mit.edu
Many discuss meetings
www.mit.edu
The RTFM archive of usenet periodic postings
As a precautionary measure, news-transport service (transport of new
articles to news.mit.edu) and the RTFM usenet-addresses database will
most likely be down for about half an hour surrounding the outage
period. Most users should not notice the absence of those services.
