SGI worksations

I tried to log in on several SGI workstations in the building 66
cluster, and they reported the error, "can't find /user/athena/lib/
init/xsession. Please log in without customizations to repair your
dot files." Only they wouldn't let me log on without customizations,
either.
I was advised over the help instance to attempt to log in as root,
but the SGI's didn't recognize the name root, and still returned the
same error message.
If the time of this occurance was important, it was 5/23/95, ~8:40PM.
I think it's particularly strange since other people are logged onto
SGI's as I write this...
