The visual workstation in the 337 area (MicroVAX II) won't reboot.
It is an important machine for us, because it is set up to handle two
disc players. If we won't be able to get it back by Monday pm,
please let me know so we can make arrangements for transfering
the second disc player to another machine.
THE SYMPTOMS:
1) Does not do an automatic reboot. When the console terminal
shows >>>, I type b. Is that still correct?
2) The terminal console (as opposed to the parallax console
replies
Ultrixboot (using VMB version 13)
bad partition table
and then loads vmunix.
3) On the Parallax console, everything runs fine until fsck.
/dev/ra0a and /dev/rra0g check out fine. Then there is a message
ra0b hard error sn0 OFFLINE
Can't open /dev/rra1g
Can't check /dev/rra1g
4) There is a recurrent creek - creek sound at an interval of
1 sec. Sounds like someone in a squeeking rocking chair. Disks?
Repeated seek?.
I have left it powered down for the moment.
P.S.: Nil appears to be wedged (Sunday, 5 pm).
