Yeah, we told him that in person, explained the primary use for Athena was
for classes, how his department supported research, in fact, pretty much
all of the arguments you'd use to explain this to someone. 

He didn't absorb (adsorb?) any of it, though.  Feel free to repeat it to
him ;-)
