I just talked to Mark. We think the proper reboot procedure is:
1. Pick System/Restart System from the toolchest menu (and
feed it the root password when it asks).
or
su
reboot
2. If you can't do that, press the power button. (The round
button next to the red/green power light.) This will still
do an orderly shutdown. It also turns off the machine. Once
the machine shuts off, press it again to turn it back on
and boot. (It might be a good idea to wait about 30 seconds
here before powering back up. I've seen it fail if you don't
wait long enough.)
3. The power button can be wedged. In the first line indentation
below the power button is a small rectangular reset button that
you need a pen or something to get at. Press that. We believe
that this button cannot be wedged.
4. If all else fails (which we don't think can happen since we
think the small button is hard), you have the power cable
to unplug (wait, oh say thirty seconds after unplugging) and
plug back in.
5. If power remains after disconnecting the power cable,
call an exorcist.
