m2-032-10 disk problem

m2-032-10, a Sparcstation 5, can't read its disk.
When trying to boot, it says:
Boot device: /iommu/sbus/espdma@5,8800000/sd3,0
Bad magic number in disk label
Can't open disk label package
Can't open boot device.
This seems undesirable.
probe-scsi reports the disk as a CONNER CP30548 SUN0535Bblahblah
Also, when I looked at it, boot-device was set to net, for some reason. I
left it that way.
