Hello. The machine I am working on is a sun sparc 5 : eecs-ath-35.
Yesterday around 11:00 it did an automatic software update and rebooted.
Ever since some peculiar things have happened:
If I do finger myself, it gives me core dump.
Once yesterday logged me out completely unexpectedly and initialized a login session.
at the time I was clicking on the background.
Today a couple of friedls have told me that when they finger me they have problems.
Furthermore, it seems at times to be very slow for simple things like
starting a c program in my directory (it is not an afs problem since
this machine is an athena machine but to our lab and I have a directory
on the local drive)
I wonder whether it needs more looking into:
In particular, was taht a scheduled software update?
(it was called sun4.3 (think) generic patch)
Is there something wrong with finger?
Thanks
LP
