It is not a good idea to repair thinwire connections
with tape or any other means other than replacing the
broken part.

An intermittent thinwire connection can disrupt the
entire ethernet in the building.  Please don't repair
them yourself other than by replacing a bad cable with
a *known good* cable.  If you can't just replace the
cable, it's best to disconnect the machines entirely.

Refer other problems to the Network Services help desk
so that Transmission can be called to fix them.
