The SIPB news server news.mit.edu will be down for an extended period
of time starting Sunday February 19 at 4:00pm and ending before Sunday
at 9am. The purpose of this outage is to cut over the server from a
Decstation 500/200 to a Sparcstation 20 with five times as much disk
space. The outage is as long as it is because we expect it to take
10-12 hours to copy the data in the news spool to the new server; we
have decided that this is the safest way to avoid breaking people's
.newsrc files.
