subnet problem?

Hi. A new workstation (Maxine) was installed this morning -- I'm writing
from it (madman.mit.edu, in 20c-109). But there appear to be a lot of
subnet problems, or something: all sorts of fileservers claim to be
bouncing up and down, while other people don't see that happening.
Pehaps a problem in building 20 routers?
