Hi Jerry. Sorry for the delay in replying.

I'm realizing this now. Had I known beforehand, however, that WHOI is not to
move a machine, perhaps other arrangements could have been made. Although,
I did notify Hotline and Consultant via email and voice mail w/24 hrs notice.
When I heard no reply at all after 24 hrs (not even acknowledgement of
receipt of my question), I moved the machine myself (after all, the
WHOI computer department has been in the business of moving machines for over
25 years).
24 hrs may not have been enough lead time, I know, which is the fault of poor
management decisions here at WHOI, not w/MIT. Please know that I don't go
around moving machines willy-nilly for lack of anything better to do.
Extreme circumstances here at WHOI actually forced this into the headache it
has become for all of us.

This is good to know, finally. I can now at least plan on a timefame for
the fix. This info has eluded me until now.

I unfortunately cannot move the machine back, so I'll have to maintain its
rc.net.

As I mentioned above, I tried this and after I had not even received
acknowledgement of my request after what I consider to be a reasonable
amount of time, I was forced to do the move myself.
For the record, in a perfect world, what should happen after I notify
Hotline about a machine move and what time frame does that encompass?
For example, can I expect someone from Athena/MIT to show up on site at WHOI
within 2 hours to move my machine for me? Clearly, I don't think a machine
move in mid-October should have to wait for resolution until the end of the
following January.

I feel I was indeed given the runaround by many folks; I think I
understand how things work, even more so now after having been through
the mill on this issue, unfortunately.
