Well, having logged on just now I've noticed that zlocate has
figured out that I'm no longer on dialup. Funny, I just called dialup
this morning from my room and the situation wasn't any different. What
gets me is that normally when I log on to dialup I don't show up at all
according to zlocate. This isn't a security thing I set up, like 'zctl
hide' or anything. It always just happened that way.
Prior to this incident, I was having trouble with zlocate and
zephyr being unable to contact me, when on dialup or otherwise. Monday,
however, I discovered through olc that the problem was with having
issued 'zctl set exposure none' (from an athena terminal) last week. I
corrected that problem by typing 'zctl set exposure NET-ANNOUNCED.' I
believe that on the day I logged in over dialup (and zlocate failed
to recognise the logout) I had done some tweeking with zctl, like wg_read
and wg_startup to try to become zlocatable and zwriteable. I got some
sort of message like 'directory or file unreadable while connecting to
port such and such.' I didn't know what it meant. All I know is that zctl
wg_startup wouldn't work.
In reference to your questions, I have '/usr/etc/zwgc -ttymode' in
my .startup.tty file to set up my tty sessions with the ability to get
zephyrs. It only occasionally works, and I always get a message like
'zwgc: Unable to open X display - disabling X driver.'
What ever the problem, it has apparently been corrected. I hope I
have been of help in finding any problems in the dialup or zephyr
systems. Thank you for your assistance.
