Hello,
For some time now I have noticed that most of the mice in the public
clusters are "sticky", that is, uneven in responsiveness. I at first assumed
that cleaning the track ball or the contacts would alleviate the problem,
but no, that didn't seem to help. One day, however, I discovered that lifting
the mouse slightly off the table *did* help. I believe that the problem is
that the little plastic "feet" have worn off the mice and they now sit too low
to the table for the track ball to make contact. I don't know how many
complaints you get about this problem, but it can be extremely annoying.
While it would be extremely tedious to reattach the little "feet", at least it
wouldn't involve replacing any expensive parts.
I'm not really up in arms about this, but I thought you might want to
know that there's nothing drastically wrong with the equipment, and you might
be saved some time and expense. My "quick fix" of putting a piece of paper
under the mouse, with a hole where the track ball is, has fixed the stickiness
of the mouse every time, so I'm pretty confident of this assessment.
Sincerely,
Kris Giesing
