VAX.dialup is going away (really!)

daemon@ATHENA.MIT.EDU (David Krikorian)
Tue Oct 25 18:44:23 1994

Date: Tue, 25 Oct 94 18:44:06 -0400
From: David Krikorian <dkk@MIT.EDU>
To: athena-outage@MIT.EDU, bug-dialup@MIT.EDU, cfyi@MIT.EDU, f_l@MIT.EDU

The last remaining VAX dialup host will be shut down permanently on
voting day: Tuesday, November 8, 1994. This is the last public VAX,
the last public BSD Unix Athena system, and the last public Athena
system running a release older than 7.6G.

("Public" here refers to machines that are available to the general
user community without having to borrow access to someone else's.)

Once again, November 8th, 1994 will be doomsday for this computer:

  Names: VAX.DIALUP.MIT.EDU, SCRIBE.DIALUP.MIT.EDU, E40-008-5.MIT.EDU
  Address: 18.71.0.17
