I called Phys Plant about the chilled water shutdown scheduled for the
entire W20 building on Oct 13 from 7am to 3pm.(I can't believe they're
even considering doing this during the week.)
I left a message on 3-1500 yesterday for Mary Files. Since I didn't
hear anything back I called again today. The person answering the
phone suggested I call Jack Narcotta.
Jack said they need to take the entire building down because there's a
leak in the basement and they don't have a way to isolate the leak w/o
draining the entire building (sounds kinda hokey to me, even
residential buildings have shutoff valves. But hey, what do I know? As
PP said, I'm "just the Athena computers for the students").
In any event, I told him that we don't want to risk the shutdown of
our equipment midweek. I asked for temporary cooling units or for the
shutdown to be rescheduled to off hours. He said they'd prefer not to
incur the added cost off hours work would require. Jack suggested _I_
(me? I'm the customer!) call Warren Scott to ask for portable cooling
units.
Stay tuned...
Kim
PS: Warren Scott is on vacation until Oct 17th. I need to talk w/ his
stand-in, Jack Manion.
