Hi all,
Well it took me nearly 10 hrs. to investigate this caper, but the
primary A/C unit is now back up. The flow of events went as follows:
It appears tha the primary A/C unit lost power sometime over last weekend.

The LOUD (secondary?) A/C is on in 11-115. Can anything be done about
this?
Several complaints, relating to the above, have been reported. It seems that
someone had dropped the ball when the primary A/C unit lost power. When this
happens, an alarm is transmitted to the P.P. operations center and acted upon.
As it looks right now, nobody knows anything about this issue. So the primary
unit was down since sometime last weekend. Kim had notified P.P. earlier
today, and had asked me to follow up.

Carla,
Sorry about the inconvenience! I just spoke with Phys Plant
Operations, they said they'd have it fixed tomorrow. We'll see
if we can get it fixed sooner and in the meantime get the
tiles switched.
Hotine: Can one of you guys give Warren Scott a call? The
primary A/C unit has been down since Sunday. It's now
Wednesday (4 days later) and I'm concerned that we'll lose
the secondary unit then we'll be in crisis mode. Let's see
if it can get fixed today.

Carla,
I spoke with Lou earlier this afternoon. He's been trying to get in
touch with Warren Scott in Phys Plant. He's called and paged Warren
but his calls haven't been returned.
We'll keep you posted.
Kim
I had requested the Operations Center to contact Warren Scott at home due
to this critical situation. Warren reported back to the Operations Center
that he knew nothing about this situation. So I requested immediate service
from P.P. Two P.P. mechanics showed up very shortly, and suggested that it
may be an electrical problem. I had noticed a blown fuse on the electrical
panel, and the electrician was called in. The electrician did not have this
type of fuse, so he made up a jumper in its place to bypass the circuit.
The A/C unit would still not come up. At this point, I requested P.P. to call
in the refridge. mechanic. Tom Delana (refidge. mechanic arrived at 9:30 and
began to troubleshoot the unit. It was found that the jumper that the
electrician put on was no good. The mechanic replaced the control unit fuse
and the unit came up.
In conclusion,
There are still 2 open work orders for this primary unit.
W.O# 688205 to have the bearings looked at (bad vibration), and
W.O# 713364 to have the correct factory control fuse installed.
(a 32volt 5amp fuse).
The Primary unit is now running with proper humidity control etc.. and the
secondary unit is in standby mode, as it should be.
The consultants in 11-115 can return to their quarters, and all should be
normal.
I would like to suggest that this incident be brought to Vicki's attention,
because as Kim stated, all we had to do is loose the secondary unit.
This is just another example where some P.P. people are not following up on
critical issues.
Thanks Much,
--Lou
