Hi,
This is the second report on malfunctions of two Athena SunWorkstation.
The location is in Center of Advanced Engineering Athena cluster Rm 9-366.
The machines with trouble are CAES-SUN-3 and CAES-SUN-4.
The symptom of SUN-3 is when you "attach bitbucket", the athena prompt gives
refusing signal, saying something like "verified server reject" (please see
previous email), this msg repeats itself indefinitely, every 5-15 secs.
The symptom of SUN-4 is a little severe. When I try to start XESS from the
menu, the Console window gives
"loss contact with file server 18.145.0.17 in cell athena.mit.edu
loss contact with file server 18.179.0.23 in cell athena.mit.edu"
eventually these two servers are backed up, but in the XESS window,
this signal keeps of repeating with a beep:
"ERROR: loss connection with Xess: Full reconnection attempt 1 of 5"
After several such beeps, the Xess window locks itself and is virtually dead.
Such problems have been first reported to you on Friday, by phone and email.
