Subject: Tang Center - Chilled Water Shutdown
Hello, neighbors!
Well, I've been getting further educated about what it takes to shut
down the chilled water at MIT...more than I ever wanted to know! (I
thought I learned a lot last time, Cec, but now I'm getting an advanced
degree!) In case I wasn't clear at our meeting the other day, the CW
shut-down is necessary so that we can re-route the existing CW line out
of the way of the new Tang Center foundations. So, some new information
for you to spread amongst your constituents:
First, we will NOT shut down the chilled water (CW) this coming Mon.,
Tues., Wed. So there WILL be air-conditioning on those days (as well as
other days, as usual).
Second, when we do shut the CW service down, E40 will NOT be affected.
We are installing a special valve in E40 so that the Athena computer
room will not be affected by this or any future shutdowns.
Third, we WILL shut down the CW in E51, E52 and E53 from 7AM Sat. June
18th until 7AM Sun. June 19th. This means there will be no
air-conditioning in these buildings for this period of time. Please let
all your constituents know about this. Plant's Operations Center will
also notify key people in these buildings.
Fourth, please let me know IMMEDIATELY if any of your people have a
problem with this shutdown. If I don't hear from you by Monday June 6,
I will assume that this is fine with them.
Fifth, please call me if you have any questions, or need more
information.
